This is Councilman Marcel Rodarte's first term as a member of the Norwalk City Council. While new to the City Council, he is in no way new to Norwalk.

Councilman Rodarte grew up in Norwalk and attended both Ramona and Moffitt Elementary schools before going on to graduate from Norwalk High School in 1990. Councilman Rodarte enlisted in the U.S. Navy while still in high school and then in the U.S. Air Force Reserve where he continues to serve today. His military service has taken him to every continent in the world including several deployments in support of regional conflicts, humanitarian efforts, and the War on Terror in Iraq and Afghanistan. His most recent deployment was a six-month tour to Germany to support surge operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Councilman Rodarte is currently employed by the Department of Defense as a Quality Assurance Specialist where he is responsible for overseeing high-value defense contracts. He has served Norwalk as a Planning Commissioner from 2007 to 2010 and was a member of Norwalk's 50th Anniversary Committee where he recruited and trained the first multi-service color guard at the City's 50th Anniversary Independence Day celebration. He is also an active member of LULAC Council 3148 and American Legion Post 359.

The proud father of a five-year old daughter, Councilman Rodarte firmly believes in family and inspiring and empowering the youth of Norwalk to realize their full potential. This is evidenced by his participation as a coach for several youth teams and is an avid and active supporter of all youth programs in Norwalk.

Councilman Rodarte holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Management and Associate's Degrees in Electronics and Logistics and hopes that his accomplishments will inspire others to achieve their goals in life.

Accountability, improving communication with residents and businesses, a renewed focus on community, and improving the quality of life of all residents are a few of his priorities while serving the people of Norwalk. He is also focused on attracting new businesses to Norwalk and improving the City's use of available technology to save costs and increase efficiency.

Councilman Rodarte looks forward to giving back to his hometown that has given him opportunities and experiences of which he is extremely grateful and proud.
