Transportation Department / Norwalk Transit System (NTS)

MISSION STATEMENT
The function of the Norwalk Transit System is to provide the community it serves with the most efficient and economical public transportation services possible; in keeping with our commitment to quality, safety and effectiveness.

DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES
The Norwalk Transit System (NTS) provides fixed route and Dial-A-Ride service to Norwalk and surrounding communities. Currently, the fixed route service consists of routes which service Norwalk and adjacent communities. The NTS Route 4 rail feeder shuttle service provides a direct connection between the Norwalk Santa Fe Springs Transportation Center (Metrolink Commuter Rail Station) and the Metro Green Line Studebaker Station (Light Rail). Span of service for weekday fixed-route service operates between 4:10 a.m. and 11:45 p.m. Weekend service is provided between 6:45 a.m. to 6:59 p.m.

On November 1974, NTS's demand-responsive transit service for persons with disabilities was initiated. Dial-a-Ride service is available for persons with disabilities and senior citizens from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on weekdays and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekends. Evening weekday service, between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 10:45 p.m., is provided via accessible Taxicab (voucher) service.
