Transportation Department / Norwalk Transit System (NTS)

General Information

Norwalk Transit System (NTS) has been operating fixed-route and paratransit service in Los Angeles County since 1974. Our fixed route operation serves an area, which includes the City of Norwalk and portions of Artesia, Bellflower, Cerritos, La Mirada, Santa Fe Springs, La Habra, Whittier and Unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. Norwalk Transit's paratransit advance reservation / taxi voucher Dial-A-Ride service operates within the jurisdictional boundary of the City of Norwalk. NTS provides bus service between the Norwalk/Santa Fe Springs Transportation Center and the Metro Green Line Studebaker station in Norwalk. This service implemented by NTS provides direct interconnectivity between rail stations (Metrolink and Metro Green light rail). Metrolink (commuter rail service between Orange County and Los Angeles) provides weekday train service to the Norwalk/Santa Fe Springs Transportation Center.


MEMORIAL DAY
In observance of Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 2013, the Transportation Department will be closed. Therefore, Norwalk Transit Systems (NTS) fixed-route bus service will not be in operation on Memorial Day. The Holiday Schedule can be found here.


NOTICE - ROUTE 3 DETOUR
Please be advised that effective Sunday, February 17, 2013, as part of the I-5 Freeway Widening project, Route 3 along Shoemaker Avenue will be detoured along Bloomfield Avenue. The Shoemaker Bridge will be closed for approximately twelve (12) months. Detour Notice and Map


Rio Hondo College "GO RIO" Program

Beginning in Fall 2012, GO RIO will again include five (5) transit partners: Metro, Foothill Transit, Norwalk Transit, Montebello Bus Lines and Sunshine Shuttle.

Norwalk Transit accepts the GO RIO pass Monday through Friday only.
